TukDASH SACCO is a savings and credit co-operative society registered under the Co-operative Societies Act (Cap 490) of the Laws of Kenya. These Rules outline the rights and responsibilities of members and are binding on all who join the SACCO. In the event of any conflict, the Co-operative Societies Act and the SACCO's by-laws prevail.
Membership is open to TukTuk operators, riders, and approved merchants who are at least 18 years old, resident in Kenya, and who complete the SACCO application and KYC verification. Each member is issued a unique SACCO number upon admission.
A one-off, non-refundable membership fee is payable on admission. Members agree to make monthly contributions as selected during registration. Contributions build share capital and determine loan eligibility.
Members' savings are held in individual accounts and earn returns as declared by the SACCO's Annual General Meeting. Savings may be used as collateral for loans and remain the property of the member, subject to any outstanding obligations.
Members become eligible for loans after meeting the minimum savings period and contribution threshold. Loan limits are based on a multiple of a member's savings, and repayment terms and interest rates are set by the SACCO and disclosed before disbursement. Defaulting on a loan may affect future eligibility and SACCO membership.
Through partnerships with AMACO Insurance, MalaikaRx, and Equity Afya, members may access vehicle insurance, driver health cover, and discounted healthcare. Eligibility and coverage terms are set by the respective partners and are subject to active membership and contribution compliance.
The SACCO is governed by an elected management committee in accordance with the Co-operative Societies Act. Members have the right to attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting and to stand for committee positions as provided in the by-laws.
A member may withdraw from the SACCO by giving written notice and settling any outstanding obligations. Refunds of savings are paid subject to the SACCO's liquidity and the notice period in the by-laws. A member may be expelled for fraud, persistent default, or conduct harmful to the SACCO, following due process.
Disputes between members and the SACCO are first addressed through the SACCO's internal dispute mechanism. Unresolved matters are referred to the Co-operative Tribunal and the courts of Kenya as provided by the Co-operative Societies Act.
These Rules may be amended by the management committee and ratified at the Annual General Meeting, in line with the Co-operative Societies Act and the SACCO by-laws.
